Mount Kenya is the second highest peak in Africa at 5,199m and is an ancient, extinct volcano. During this height of its activity (3.1–2.6 million years ago), it is thought to have risen to a height of 6,500m. There are 12 remnant glaciers on the top of the mount, all receding rapidly, and four secondary peaks that sit at the head of the u-shaped glacial valleys. This climbing tour takes you to three peaks: Batian [the highest], Nelion and Lenana.

Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: Nairobi
Depart Nairobi at 9:00 am in the morning and proceed towards the cool slopes of Mount Kenya. Cross the equator and arrive at the Nanyuki Hotel in time for lunch. Here you will relax and enjoy the excellent facilities and magnificent scenery before dinner and your overnight stay.
DAY 2: Nanyuki - Judmaier Camp
Spend the morning sorting and organizing your personal equipment in preparation for the mountain trek. After lunch, we will drive to the Sirimon Gate and head up the road at 11,000 ft. Have an easy walk in the afternoon to help with acclimatization. Your dinner and overnight will be at the Judmaier camp.
DAY 3: Judmaier - Liki North Valley
After breakfast, we will ascend up the Sirimon Track to the Liki North Valley. We will spend the night camping in this beautiful little valley below the subsidiary peaks of Teleki and Sendeyo (two ancient, parasitic vents off of the main peaks). Your meals and overnight stay will be in the Liki North Valley (13,000 ft).
DAY 4: Liki North Valley Camp - Mackinder’s Camp
Climb out of the North Valley and into the Mackinder’s Valley, which is the broadest valley in Mount Kenya. We will camp at the head of the Mackinder’s Valley camp, which is located just below the main peaks of Batian and Nelion at 14,000 ft. Your meals and overnight stay will be at the camp.
DAY 5: Point Lenana - Teleki Valley
Today you will make an alpine ascent up the third highest peak on the mount, Point Lenana (16,355 ft). This route up the north face is rarely used by tourists and requires four hours of stiff walking to the summit. Descend from here to the Teleki Valley, which is named after the Hungarian explorer Samuel Teleki, and sits on the opposite side of the main peaks. End the day at the Mackinders Camp for dinner and your overnight stay in the valley (13,000 ft.).
DAY 6: Teleki Valley - Met Station
Explore the magnificent and impressive landscapes that are featured in the Teleki Valley as you hike and descend to the Met Station via the Naro Moru Track. After the scenic hike down this road, you will return to the hotel for your meals and overnight stay.
DAY 7: Met Station – Nairobi
After breakfast we will descend to the park gate to meet with our transfer car back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. If you prefer we can arrange for you to have an overnight stay at the Naru moru River Lodge at an extra cost before returning to Nairobi You will be dropped at the airport or hotel.
